LUNA'S CAUSES

Luna wants to support dogs like her. She wants to raise awareness of missing dogs and the efforts people make to bring them home safely. She also would like to encourage people to adopt an animal, as she knows they will be forever grateful as she is. Lastly, Luna would like to spread awareness of the negative impact of fireworks, not only to pets but also to wildlife.

Little Lost Luna is raising money for dogs in need, with 50% of profits going to small charities, starting with those below. We will provide an update in March 2024 on the impact Little Lost Luna has been able to make on Luna's causes.

Solstice Missing Dogs

Luna was found, after ten days on the run from being scared by fireworks, by the teamwork of Solstice Missing Dogs and the public who they advised. Solstice Missing Dogs are a small but dedicated team who will go to great lengths to bring missing dogs in Wiltshire safely home. They give advice to the owner and the public in the surrounding areas, generate and put up posters alongside kind volunteers. They map sightings of the dog to understand patterns of routes and behaviours, and use equipment such as cameras and traps. They also teamed up with Drone SAR for Lost Dogs UK who flew drones in the hopes of spotting Luna. There are similar organisations to Solstice Missing Dogs in other parts of the UK which most people aren’t aware of.

SuperDogs Rescue

Luna was originally rescued by Melina, the founder of SuperDogs Rescue, so Little Lost Luna is very proud to support SuperDogs in their mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned dogs from Cyprus. The situation with neglected and abused dogs in Cyprus is dire but SuperDogs SuperDogs' philosophy is rooted in the idea that with the right support and care, every animal can overcome the challenges they've faced. They are committed to changing lives forever – theirs and yours.

Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre

The author of Little Lost Luna, Karen, grew up very close to the Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre and has always wanted to help them. Foal Farm has been rescuing and rehoming neglected animals in and around Kent for more than 60 years. Their mission is to take in as many animals as they can properly care for, to restore them to health and happiness and where possible find them new homes or provide a sanctuary for life.

Every year they rehome approximately 500 cats, dogs and small animals, and provide permanent sanctuary to more than 100 farm animals and equines. When they rehome an animal, they believe in matching the right animal to the right home – making the needs of the animal their top priority. If a suitable home cannot be found for an animal, Foal Farm becomes their forever home, providing sanctuary for life.
